The Nasarawa state government says it has completed the Infectious Disease Control Centre in Lafia.
Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed this to newsmen while inspecting the facility in Lafia on Friday.
The governor said that he saw the need to complete the project started by the immediate past governor, Umaru Tanko Al-makura because of the impact such a facility stands to make in the health sector of the Nasarawa state.
Sule said that the facility will not be restricted to COVID-19 research but other diseases too.
“It is a centre for research as well as other infectious diseases. It is not restricted to only COVID-19, it extends to so many other diseases such as Ebola as you can mention, malaria, Lassa and other diseases.
“Being a research center, it is likely to come out with a lot of ideas, with a lot of reports that are going to assist our existing hospitals,” he added.
Governor Sule gave the assurance that the facility will soon be inaugurated to begin full operations.
