Nasarawa state government has commenced a three-week training on Employability & Entrepreneurship for 80 youths in the state.
The programme anchored by the newly established Nasarawa state human capital development office, in partnership with the private sector and other employers of labour had participants drawn from the 13 local government areas of the state.
The state governor, Abdullahi A Sule at the flag off ceremony of the training in Lafia, disclosed that his administration has concluded plans to establish a graduate training academy to equip fresh graduates in the state with the 21st century skills to make them employable and employers.
According to Sule, education alone is not enough, hence the need for the youth to develop themselves so as to be employable or have knowledge of entrepreneurial skills in cases where they are unable to secure jobs.
“The idea really is two important roles, employability and entrepreneurship, education alone means nothing if these two are not there,” he said.
He stated that his administration will continue to give the youths the needed attention in all programmes of the state government as part of the steps towards addressing restiveness and idleness among youths.
Earlier, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and Focal Person, Human Capital Development Nasarawa State, Habiba Balarabe charged the participants to take advantage of the numerous programmes focusing on their economic empowerment.
