By Mohammed Yangida, Lafia A Chief Magistrate Court 2 sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa state has ordered the arrest of the House of Representatives member representing Doma /Awe /Keane federal constituency, Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo over a land dispute case involving him and one Ali Garba Abgo.
Chief Magistrate Yakubu Ishaku Eggah Esq on Friday, said the accused person, Hon. Mohammed Onawo refused to honour the court summon and also failed to appear in the court for three times hence, should be arrested.
The complainant Ali Garba, argued that the lawmaker conspired with his personal Assistant (PA) and sold to him a plot of land behind Lafia specialist hospital at the rate of N3 million naira knowing fully well that the allocation of the land had been revoked by the Nasarawa state government.
Ali Garba through his counsel Mohammed Elegu Usman said that the case was filled on 26 of August 2015 against the lawmaker for conspiracy and cheating .
As according to him “When we went to serve him he directed his aide to collect the service while he was there present , he refused to collect it by himself and after his aide collected the process he came back to court with his lawyer and paid for filling a motion for bad services.
He said that the service made on him that day was wrong, and the court made a consequential order on that day pending the hearing of the application to set aside the process of the court”
But when contacted the lawmaker Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo said he was yet to be served with the arrest warrant.
He however insisted that his plot of land was a genuine one, saying that the ministry for land have never communicated to him that his plot of land was not a genuine plot.
“But I am still waiting for the arrest warrant though I did not receive it when I receive it then I will know the next line of action ” the lawmaker said.
