By Godwin Kingsley, Lafia Members of Doka community in Lafia East Development Area of Nasarawa State on Friday lamented the absence of government infrastructural facilities in their domain.
The community leader, Mohammed Baba-Iya raised the alarm in Lafia during a community meeting with women and youths of the area.
He said that over the years successive governments in the state had promised infrastructural facilities in their community without fulfilling it thereby leading to stagnancy and underdevelopment.
“The aim of this meeting is to discuss on issue affecting the community and to brainstorm on how to move the community and the country in general forward for the benefit of all.
“As we are all know that our community lacks the basic social amenities such as good road, quality health care, electricity, pipe borne water among others, these are facilities that make a community, a state and a country to develop.
“Over the years, the previous government had promised to extend its developmental strides to our communities but up to date, nothing has been done to alleviate our suffering in order to improve on the standard of living.
He explained that the presence of infrastructural facilities in their community would bring
speedy development to the communities as well as reduce youth’s restiveness.
Mohammed however, appealed to the present administration under the leadership of Governor Tanko Al-Makura to extend its developmental stride to their communities through the construction of modern school, provision of quality health care and pipe borne water facilities among others.
