The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B has lamented the closure of public schools in Borno state, north-east Nigeria due to recent killings of innocent school children.
A statement issued by NANS Zone B Public Relations Officer, Pedro Obi, on Sunday reads, “Education is sure the best legacy one can offer a child, and it will be a great disservice to these innocent children of Borno to sit at home while their counterparts in other States of the Federation are climbing an all important ladder of Human development.
“We commend the Federal Government for her effort so far in this regard and charge them and all security agencies to intensify the manhunt against these blood thirsty individuals.
“We also call on the Borno State Government, to please look inward for an alternative means to secure these children while they attend their school or better still sponsor their schooling outside the State”.
According to Obi, “we can’t afford to see our brothers/sisters roaming the streets with the attendant psychological trauma attached to it and causing more nuisances to the society as these children at home can easily be recruited into the terror group.
“To the saboteur in this fight against the insurgents, you should be aware that “an Injustice anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere”; on this note, NANS calls on all hands to be on deck for the total eradication of this terror group in our society”.
