By Victoria Hanson The founder of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Dr. Boniface Aniebonam has called on the Federal government to focus specifically on the development of the maritime sector.
He made the call recently in his office while fielding questions from news men. According to him, Nigeria must be able to fly flag as a maritime nation by encouraging local vessels.
While appealing to the government under the leadership of President Mohammed Buhari to checkmate tremendous capacities paralysing the economy, Dr Aniebonam also urged the government to collaborate with the stakeholders in the sector.
He spotted out the issue of compliance as the major problem in the port, noting that importers and exporters often refuse to comply with the rules governing the ports.
Stressing the importance of the one-day sensitization workshop held earlier, the NAGAFF boss said that it was an awareness campaign to broaden the knowledge of participants on checkmating illegal cargoes.
