Nigerian indigenous rapper Remilekun Khalid Safaru, popularly known as Reminisce has expressed the view that financial investment has supplanted the essence of quality music in the criteria for a hit song.
During his appearance on the ‘I Said What I Said’ podcast, he remarked that contemporary hit songs are often reliant on substantial budgets rather than the intrinsic quality of the music itself.
He said, “The game has now changed to another phase. The phase where you now have to spend money to get hits.
“Money now produces hits not music anymore. That’s the phase we are in now. Whatever song you see [popping], go ask what the marketing budget was. That’s what determines how big a song is. It’s no longer just music anymore.”
In other news, Hours after Regina Daniels, a Nollywood actress, shared that she graduated with a psychology degree from Universidad Azteca in Mexico, she was met with criticism from Nigerians.
Some claimed she bought her degree, questioning her trip to Mexico, while others doubted she attended any classes.
Regina’s brother stepped in to defend her against the negative comments.
Sharing a video of him dancing to a song on TikTok, Regina’s brother wrote in a caption, “Who no get WAEC don dey ask when Regina go class.”
