President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday announced a minor cabinet reshuffle following the resignation of seven ministers who are interested in contesting the governorship elections in their various States in 2015.
The Minister of State 11 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nurudeen Mohammed, is now to take charge of the Ministry of Information.
Briefing State House Correspondents after the weekly Cabinet meeting, Mohammed said the Minister of State I, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Professor Viola Onwuliri, was been moved to the Ministry of Education as Minister of State.
The Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki is now to oversee the Ministry of Labour and Productivity.
For the Ministries of Trade and Investment, Defence, Health and Niger Delta, Olusegun Aganga, Aliyu Gusau, Dr Haliru Alhassan and Dr. Steve Oru respectively are to take full charge of the ministries.
President Jonathan had last Wednesday hinted that seven ministers would be resigning their positions to pursue governorship ambitions.
The ministers who resigned are: Labaran Maku (Nasarawa), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Emeka Wogu (Abia), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Musiliu Obanikoro (Lagos), Dahiru Isiaku and Onyebuchi Chukwu (Ebonyi).
