The Katsina State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Surajo Leader, and two others have been killed by gunmen in Mai Rana community, Kusada Local Government Area of the state.
The attack occurred on Saturday night when the gunmen invaded the area, leaving the community in distress.
Sources disclosed that the assailants also abducted two of the deceased’s wives and his daughter, who is a university student.
The victims have been buried according to Islamic rites as tensions rise in the community.
Katsina Police Command spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident, stating that police officers engaged the attackers in a gunfight, forcing them to flee.
One of the abducted wives and an operational vehicle used by the gunmen were recovered during the encounter.
ASP Aliyu assured the public that efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the attackers. He called on residents to provide credible information to help track down the criminals and ensure their arrest.
