The Minister of Finance Zainab Ahmed has charged the Strategic Revenue Growth Initiative (SRGI) Steering Committee to deliver on its mandate.
Ahmed gave the charge at the inaugural meeting of the SRGI, where the committee was tasked to ensure the objectives and target areas were achieved to provide good governance and strategic direction for implementation.

Launched in January 2019, the initiative is built on three core thematic areas including; to achieve sustainability in revenue generation, Identify new and enhance the enforcement of existing revenue streams and to achieve cohesion in the revenue ecosystem (people and tools).
According to a statement by the Minister’s Media Adviser, Paul Abechi in Abuja on Thursday, the mandate of the Steering Committee includes, overseeing the implementation of the SRGI; receive and consider reports from portfolio holding agencies; develop reporting template for portfolio agencies; and review from time to time the portfolio of agencies.
Addressing the meeting, the minister said: “We have just concluded the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Revenue Growth Initiative (SRGI) Steering Committee which will provide overall governance and strategic direction for the implementation of the SRGI and has membership from all of the major revenue generating agencies.
“It is our plan that the Steering Committee will guide the implementation of the SRGI whilst driving the results delivery and ensuring that initiatives are prioritized and sequenced in a manner to deliver maximum revenue impacts in a more collaborative and integrated manner.”
Ahmed also added that, “The Steering Committee will meet monthly to deliberate on key important issues and milestones and review project implementation progress in a timely way; and may also meet, at any time, to address any urgent issues that may affect project implementation.”
The SRGI steering committee which has members from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, was launched in January 2019 for sustainable revenue generation in all sectors of the economy in order to boost and sustain government revenue in accordance with good governance.
