Labour unions in Kwara have praised Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for composition and inauguration of the state tripartite committee for the consequential adjustment on the new minimum wage.
The unions, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Joint Negotiation Council (JNC) said it was heartwarming that AbdulRazaq sets the pace as first governor to have inaugurated such committee.
The state NLC Chairman, Muritala Olayinka and his TUC and JNC counterparts, Abdulrahman Onikijipa, and Saliu Suleiman respectively said this in a joint statement issued in Ilorin on Thursday.
The statement assured the state government and AbdulRazaq of the labour union’s commitment and dedication to the assignment.
The labour unions expressed gratitude to the governor for his support to them while promising that it would be reciprocated.
They also applauded the commitment of the governor to the welfare of workers in the state.
“We are assuring the state government and His Excellency of our commitment and dedication to this great assignment and responsibility bestowed on the movement,” the labour unions said in the statement.
President Bola Tinubu recently assented to the new minimum wage bill for immediate implementation for workers across the country.
State governors and the organized private sector are also to effect it immediately on the monthly salaries of their workers.
