The President, Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho Musa, says the military will spare no effort in reintegrating Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) with their families and communities.
The DEPOWA president gave the assurance on Thursday while presenting palliatives to some IDPs in Durumi, Abuja.
According to her, the plight of Internally Displaced Persons is a reminder of the devastating impact of conflicts and displacements on innocent people.
“It is a sobering reality that compels us to act with urgency and humanity, our duty goes beyond mere distribution of aids, rather, it is about restoring dignity, providing comfort, and offering a glimmer of hope in the midst of despair.
“It is centered on reaffirming our commitment to serve all citizens, especially the most vulnerable among us.
“Accordingly, as we witness the gratitude and relief on the faces of those receiving these palliatives, let us be reminded of the power of compassion to heal wounds and restore faith in humanity,” she added.
The DEPOWA president thanked the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, for her efforts to uplift women and children out of poverty.
Mrs Musa urged the IDPs to continue to stand united, while assuring them that the military was doing everything possible to integrate them with their families and communities.
“Permit me to use this opportunity to assure all present here that DEPOWA is committed to strengthening the welfare of the families of Internal Displaced Persons,” she added.

The chairman of the IDPs camp, Mr Ibrahim Ahmadu, thanked the military and the Chief of Defence Staff for their benevolence, saying the camp has about 3,400 IDPs from eight states.
He said that the provision of the food items would go a long way in alleviating their plights.
Items presented included bags of rice and grains, and cartons of noodles, among others. (NAN)
