The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Saturday confirmed that an Abuja-bound Medview aircraft with 104 on board returned safely to Lagos as a precaution shortly after takeoff.
A statement by FAAN’s General Manager, Communications, Yakubu Dati, assured the public that investigation is being carried out to ascertain the cause of the return.
Dati states, “A Medview aircraft en route Abuja after having just taken –off from Lagos made a precautionary return back to Lagos and landed safely with all 99 persons on board including 5 crew members.
“The airline, a B737 with Registration No 5NBPB which took off at 9:12am landed safely at 9.17am with no casualty.
“The NCAA and the AIPB have already commenced investigation to ascertain the cause of the air return.
“We call on the general public, especially aviation stakeholders to resist the urge to sensationalise an incident that is already under control.
“We remain committed to a safe and secure aviation sector”.
