Dr Chinwoke Mbadinuju, former governor of Anambra has died.
Cheta Mbadinuju, son of the deceased who announced the death of the elder statesman on behalf of the family said their patriarch died on Saturday at the National Hospital, Abuja at the age of 78.
Mbadinuju was the first governor of Anambra in the fourth republic, he resigned between 1999 to 2003.
According to Cheta, with heavy hearts but utmost gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, uncle, friend and associate, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju, a former governor of Anambra State and elder statesman.
“At this trying time, we pray for God’s grace and mercy upon him and those left behind to mourn him. His funeral arrangements will be announced in due course by the family,” he said.
In a reaction, Gov. State Chukwuma Soludo has commiserated with the family of Mbadinuju, Uli Community of Ihiala LGA and entire people of Anambra over the loss.
In a Statement signed by Christian Aburime, his Press Secretary,
Soludo said the late ‘Odera’ as he was fondly called would be remembered for passing a law that created the Anambra Vigilante Services, establishing Anambra State University, Uli, among other legacy projects.
He asked the family to ensure his good legacies are sustained while praying that the Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest.(NAN)
