By Gracious Akujobi In its bid to encourage fair officiating during the Premier league matches, the League Management Company (LMC) has increased the indemnity of Match officials and Commissioners upwards by 25% starting from the 2013/14 league season.
Chairman of the league body, Nduka Irabor said asides from increasing the match indemnities; LMC will also ensure that they are given maximum protection during league matches.
“We have increased remuneration for match officials.The referees and Match commissioners are getting 25% increase in their indemnities during the season”
“We have also concluded arrangement to specifically protect them at match venues so they don’t become easy targets for rowdy football fans” Irabor said.
Meanwhile, match Commissioners and referees have poured encomium on the LMC for the 25% increment and assurance of security adding that under a conducive atmosphere match officials would always give their best if they are protected and well paid.
