Wife of the sponsor of the MASVI Cycling extravaganza, Mr Sunday Ajayi, Mrs Ajayi has said she will fulfil her promise to Rosemary Markus, the Edo state lady cyclist who had a flat tyre about 10 kilometres to the finish line at the maiden edition last year.
This was disclosed yesterday by the Chairman of Owan West Local Government Area, Hon. Frank Ilaboya who said various activities have been lined up to make the second edition of the event a memorable one.
Mrs Ajayi, it would be recalled, had compassion on the Edo rider during last year’s race because she lost out of the race due to her punctured bicycle tyre despite being in a position to win the race.
She surprised all and sundry at the price given ceremony when she promised to buy a new bicycle for Miss Markus who wept profusely for missing out on the prize despite riding over 70 kilometres and leading the bunch.
Delta won the female race while Rivers won the male with each of them carting away a giant trophy and N150,000.00 and N200,000.00 respectively.
Meanwhile organizers of the second edition of the MASVI Cycling extravaganza, Sportsville group have promised to make this year’s edition, which falls on the Easter weekend, a memorable one.
Speaking with sportswriters in his office at the Owan West Local Government Secretariat in Sabongida-Ora, the Chairman and CEO of Sportsville, Hon. Ilaboya said the sponsor, Mr. Sunday Ajayi has promised to make this year’s edition a grand one.
