President of the Senate, David Mark has urged Nigerians across the divide to close ranks and work together to make the nation a peaceful and better Place for all.
Senator Mark in a goodwill message to Muslim faithful to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, reminded Nigerians that “we have more to gain by being together than otherwise.”
He urged Clergy men of all faith to preach the good news of oneness, peaceful coexistence, trust and love for fellow citizens.
He noted with pain the unabating security challenges facing the nation and pleaded with all Nigerians of goodwill to rise up to the occasion to tackle the menace headlong.
Mark remarked that “with the collective resolve and determination of all of us we can solve the problem and live like one big united nation where no one is oppressed or afraid of each other.
“I believe that our size and diversity is our strength. God did not make mistake in putting us together in one country. We should therefore use our strength and God given potentials for good.”
In spite of the challenges however, Mark urged Nigerians to have unshakeable faith in the ability and capability of our people to overcome the obstacles saying that the problem of Nigerians can only be solved by Nigerians themselves.
“That is why we must agree as a people to address our problems in an open, frank and honest manner because nobody is coming from the moon or space to solve our problems”, he stated.
The platform offered by the national conference or dialogue committee Mark opined is a needed elixir and avenue to reconcile any misgivings.
He therefore implored all Nigerians to take advantage of the National conference to present their positions so that “we can continue to live in peace and united like a people with a common mission and purpose”.
Mark wishes the Muslim faithful a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
