Flying Eagles coach Manu Garba has said any player who fails to prove himself will be shipped out just as he dropped two players from the squad for this weekend’s 2015 AYC qualifier in Tanzania.
The Nigeria U20s lost 1-0 to hosts Benin Republic in a warm-up game played in Cotonou.
“You have to prove yourself by our next game or you go home,” said a tough-talking Manu on Monday.
“Sunday’s game in Cotonou is now in the past. We have seen some of our lapses and we will correct them before the qualifier in Tanzania.
“We remain positive and so we wish to win in Tanzania so that the return leg will be a mere formality.”
The Flying Eagles returned to LagosMonday morning and are due to fly out to Tanzania on Wednesday afternoon.
Two players, goalkeeper Abdulazeez Abubakar and defender Ifeanyi Nweke, were dropped from the 20-man squad to Benin and so 18 players will fly out to East Africa.
However, hosts Tanzania are yet to confirm match day.
The Ngongoro Heroes edged past neigbours Kenya on penalties after both legs of their first round qualifier failed to produce any goal.
Two years ago, the Flying Eagles eliminated Tanzania 4-1 on aggregate with the Nigerians winning the first leg in Tanzania 2-1.
