An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Tuesday sentenced a 23-year-old man, Usman Umaru, to two months in a correctional centre for stealing items worth N500,000.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Daodu, sentenced Umaru after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Daodu said that the convict should serve out his term without an option of fine.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Bassey, told the court that defendant committed the offences on April 26 at Mile 12 Market area of Lagos.
Bassey said that the defendant stole items belonging to Mrs Titilayo Ayobanjo.
He said that the defendant stole a plasma television valued N100,000, five pieces of burglary iron proof valued N100,000 and aluminum window worth N100,000.
The prosecutor said that the defendant also stole electrical wires valued N200,000.
Bassey said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
