For threatening to kill his landlord, a 37-year-old man, Toheeb Bashiru, has been arraigned before an Odigbo Magistrate’s Court in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The defendant was brought before Senior Magistrate D. O. Ogunfuyi, on a count of criminal intimidation.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence on July 2, 2023 at about 7am at Mosafuneto Street in Ore, Ondo State.
The prosecutor, Inspector James Usifo told the court that the accused conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by scaling through the fence of the compound of one Odele Akinlaja and also threatening to kill him.
The offence contravene Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence leveled against him
Usifo, therefore sought for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and prepare his witnesses for trial.
The defence counsel, Mr V. A Akinfe, who did not oppose the prosecutor’s application, prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms.
In his ruling, Senior Magistrate D. O Ogunfuyi admitted the defendant to bail N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered the defendant to be remanded at the Okitipupa Correctional Centre pending the perfection of his bail and adjourned the case till July 21, 2023 for trial.
