A 27-year-old man, Jimoh Samod, on Tuesday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of 203 packs of slippers, valued at N3,045,000.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, is standing trial on a count charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between July 5 and July 6 at Jegba, Marina area of Badagry, Lagos.
He said that the defendant stole 203 packs of rubber slippers, valued at N3,045,000, property of one Bankole Ajibola, the complainant.
“The defendant, knowing that the complainant would not be around, stole the slippers.
“He was caught while stealing the slippers and handed over to the police for prosecution,” he said.
The offences, according to Ekpo, contravene Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr N.A. Layeni, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N1.5 million, with two sureties in like sum.

Adekomaiya ordered the defendant to deposit N50,000 with the chief registrar.
He said that one of the sureties must be a company’s director, with two years tax clearance.
Adekomaiya adjourned the case till Aug. 14 for mention. (NAN)
