Media Awareness Initiatives for Hajj MAI-HAJJ, a non governmental organisation has commended the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) MalamJalal Ahmad Arabi for transforming the Commission within
six months of his appointment
The organisation, stated that Arabi’s approach to the challenges he met on ground and those emerged after taken over showed his dynamism, hardwork and leadership qualities.
According to a statement signed by vice Chairman (North), Uwais Abubakar Idris and the Public Relation Officer, Malam Kabiru Yusuf, the Commission’s achievements at the just concluded 2024 hajj operations is testimony of his ability and leadership quality.
2024 pilgrims are leaving witness and also can testify how the Commission improved feeding and accommodation arrangements at MASHA’IR, that is in Mina and Arfat.
Indeed, NAHCON achieved this level following the chairman’s commitment and determination through ensuring that service providers engaged by the Commission works according to plan.
It was the first time in the history of Hajj operation, pilgrims food waiting for them at their respective tents in Mina and a package of gift items that’s include rechargeable mini fan, blanket, electronic Tasbih, and a pillow to march.
In fact some of the pilgrims interviewed by team of Journalists testified that both in Mina and Arfat there were leftovers of food as NAHCON supplied in excess and on time.
Moreover, MAI-HAJJ lamented on how the two state governors came openly attacking the Commission over the 2024 Hajj operation, despite the fact that the are fully aware that no Hajj operation, that had ever been 100 per cent hitch free, not only in Nigeria, but the world over.
Even though, lNAHCON and it’s management can not insolated from human failings, but the two governors should have engage NAHCON with their grievances so as to find out what are reasons behind all what they have view as failures, instead of calling for either scrapping entirely, or decentralisation of of the commission powers, functions and responsibilities. President Tinubu, according to Senior Adviser to the President, Ajuri Ngelela, President Tinubu resolve to appoint, Malam Jalal Arabi as Chairman of the Board of the Commission to ensure hitch-free and seamless 2024 Hajj operations.
