The Chairman of the Lokoja Local Government Area, Aliyu Baba Usman, has said that his administration is partnering Aspire Africa Football Dreams in the interest of talents discovery.
Speaking to journalists through Moses Bako, the Council’s Senior Special Adviser on Sports, Social Welfare and Human Resources Development said the partnership was part of the council’s programmes to celebrate its 100 days in office on showing commitment to the discovery of young football talents in the area.
Bako, who is also the chairman of the Confluence Queens Supporters Club insisted that the council didn’t consider the partnership in quest for political sycophancy but avail a platform to identify, educate and train the most promising footballers in view of reaching their highest potential professionally.
“The Chairman is very keen on seeing top talents based in the area showcase their personal talents for discovery, and that is the key reason why we’re partnering the Aspire Football Dreams. We want our promising talents to reach the topmost potentials and becoming World class stars”
“The partnership is not to make political noise but give future to Lokoja young and upcoming stars. We look forward to receiving Aspire Football Dreams,” Mr Bako disclosed to journalists.
Meanwhile, the Local Government Chapter Coordinator of the Aspire, Baba Ali has said that all is readily in place to host the football talents hunting worldwide organisation in Lokoja.
Bala explained that the sports-loving chairman of the Lokoja council area has shown vested interest in the hosting the Africa Aspire Football crew in view of aiding the discovery of talents in the area.
“Lokoja is ready to host Aspire Africa – the Chairman has shown robust interest because of their talents discovery programmes. He gave accent to staging the event and also mobilizing talented youths for the screening,” says the Welfare Officer of Nigeria Nationwide League side FC Lokoja.
The screening is aimed at discovering and empowering young players of U-13 in countries spread across three continents.
The Aspire Africa Football Dreams’ visit to Lokoja is slated for Saturday 17th August, 2013 at the Lokoja Township stadium.
