Leicester City are ready to smash their record transfer fee this summer in pursuit of CSKA Moscow and Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa.
The Foxes are in the market for a speedy forward in the mould of striking sensation Jamie Vardy and have identified the Nigeria international as their top target
Musa, 23, has excellent pedigree, but it would cost over £15 million to lure him from the Russian capital.
That would eclipse the fee spent on Croatia striker Andre Kramatic 14 months ago. He cost £9 million, but failed to make his mark at the King Power Stadium.
Musa has a record of almost one goal every three matches and has made his mark in the Russian League during a three-year spell since joining from the Dutch outfit VVV Venlo.
But, more importantly, he is known for his pace and that would give Vardy competition for a spot that he has made his own this season.
The England international has found the net 19 times so far, but club officials are worried that they do not have an alternative, should the forward pick up a knock.
But Musa offers cover for Vardy and, should Claudio Ranier’s side qualify for Europe, such a purchase would give the Italian the additional firepower he wants to compete at every level next season.
