Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Sulaimon Lasun Yussuff is optimistic Nigeria’s future is bright, urging the people to continue to support and cooperate with President Muhammadu Buhari as he tackles corruption and other vices bedeviling the nation.
In his New Year message to Nigerians, the Deputy Speaker said that the stage is set by the All progressive Congress-led government to give a radical approach to the development of this country so that Nigeria could compete with other developed nations of the world.
Lasun stated that with the budget presented to the National Assembly by President Mohammadu Buhari, there is an indication that infrastructure would be provided and the standard of living of the people would be improved tremendously.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Wole Oladimeji, quoted him as saying, “Nigeria is on the threshold of regaining its full potentials because that is what we deserve and the signs are beginning to show.
“It is my appeal to Nigerians that we support the government of the day as it tries to address some of the fundamental problems confronting the growth of our country like unemployment, unstable power, deplorable roads and unacceptable healthcare delivery.
“As House of Representatives, we are determined to throw our weight behind the President in tackling issue of corruption.
“It is our believe that anyone caught in corrupt acts should be made to face the wrath of the law because corruption has been the bane of the development of this country”.
According to him, “From the tone of Mr. president’s responses to questions from journalists during the presidential media chat last Wednesday night, Nigerians should be rejoicing that at last they have a leader who is ready to take them to the promise land”.
On the issue of security, the Deputy Speaker assured that government is doing everything possible to end the insurgency within the shortest possible time so that foreign investors could come and invest their money in the country.
