The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the death of one individual in a solo car accident on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway near Age-Mowo, after the Buhari Estate, on Sunday evening.
Williams Manga, the Unit Commander of the FRSC Badagry command, reported that another person was injured in the crash, which occurred around 8:30 p.m.
“The FRSC was alerted at approximately 8:40 p.m., and our team arrived at the scene by 8:50 p.m., just 10 minutes later,” Manga explained. “The incident involved a Lexus vehicle with no registration number. It appears the driver was speeding, which led to the crash. The second occupant suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries.”
Manga also stated that when the rescue team attempted to transport the deceased’s body to the hospital, they were obstructed by the deceased’s family and local youths, who blocked the expressway and became violent.
“They threatened to stop any vehicle from passing if we insisted on taking the corpse to the mortuary,” he said. As a result, the FRSC team had to return to their base.
The Unit Commander urged the public to respect the duties of FRSC officials and advised motorists to exercise caution while on the road.
