The Kwara House of Assembly on Tuesday in Ilorin passed the State Education Trust Fund 2023 Bill.
The executive bill was passed following the consideration of the report of House Committee on Education.
Aside the report, also considered was the Human Capital Development Amendment 2023 Bill to streamline members of Board of Trustees and Staffing of the Fund.
When signed into law, the education sector in the state will be accorded financial stability for effective service delivery.
The amendment was carried out so as to include the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) presentative as a member of the board.
Also, there will be a further expansion of the list of board members to capture other stakeholders in the staffing of the board.
Chairman, Committee on Education, Muhammad Baba-Salihu while laying the report before the House, described the Education Trust Fund as desirable in engendering inclusive education in the state.
The Clerk of the House, Alhaji Ahmed Abdul-kareem, read the bill for third time prior to its eventual passage.
The Speaker, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, thereafter directed the clerk to forward a clean copy of the bill for the state governor’s assent.
In another development, the tenure of Kwara State Acting Auditor-General, Tiamiyu Adeyemi, has been extended for another six months by the State House of Assembly.
This was sequel to a message on Tuesday from Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq titled “Request for Legislative Approval for Tenure Extension of Tiamiyu Adeyemi as Acting Auditor-General of the State”.
Gov. Abdulrazaq pointed out that the extension was sought in line with Section 126, Sub-Section 3 of the Constitution and the powers conferred on the House of Assembly.
He said the request followed the state government’s inability to appoint a substantive Auditor-General due to litigation in court over the termination of appointment of the former Auditor-General.(NAN). READ ALSO:
