Kwara State Government has awarded the construction of 32.8 kilometre Ilesha-Baruba/Gwanara/Kenu/Okuta road project at the cost of over N1.5b.
This was in addition to the award of the 64 kilometre Kisi-Kaiama road project already awarded.
The State Commissioner for Finance, Ademola Banu disclosed this while briefing newsmen of the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Ilorin.
According to the Commissioner, Council also reviewed on-going projects in various local government areas and expressed satisfaction with level and pace of work across the state. “I can assure you that all the projects would be completed on scheduled”. Banu said.
Answering question on dwindling allocation from the federation account, Banu said the government is working outside the box to ensure prompt payment of workers’ salary and meet other statutory commitments.
“I can tell you that probity and optimal allocation of the available resources have kept us afloat”, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abdulwahab Oba, quoted Banu as saying.
