The Kebbi Government has awarded a N3.8 billion contact for rehabilitation of 5.2 km road in Yauri Emirate in the state.
The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar-Faruk, made the disclosure in Birnin Kebbi on Monday at the signing of contact agreement with China Zhounghou Nigeria Limited.
“Today, in line with the good governance spirit of Gov. Nasir Idris’s administration, we are gathered to witness yet another landmark achievement among many to come.
“This is the signing ceremony of the contact agreement between the state government and China Zhounghou Nigeria limited.
“The contract is for the rehabilitation of Yauri township roads, which entails the rehabilitation and reconstruction of four roads including local government -Dawanau junction.
Others are market roundabout – Tashar Garkuwa, Garkan Dudu- Liberia junction and police station – Union Bank road, all at a total cost of N3.8 billion,” he said.
According to him, the contract covers a distance of about 5.2 kilometers in the area.
Umar-Faruk recalled that Gov. Idris awarded the rehabilitation and reconstruction of city centre roads in Binrin Kebbi on July 25 worth N9 billion in fulfilment of his campaign promises.
“In August, Gov. Idris performed another landmark achievement awarding the contact of completing the ultra-modern secretariat complex at the cost of N10.5 billion,” he added.
Umar-Faruk commended the governor for the confidence reposed in the Ministry to supervise the execution of the contract.
“We equally wish to further assure that the Ministry would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the highest quality of workmanship is maintained throughout the project duration of 18 months,” the commissioner assured.
