The Katsina Polytechnic says it will soon commence degree programmes in four course in affiliation with the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, in Niger.
Dr Ibrahim Kurfi, the Rector of the polytechnic, disclosed this while receiving a panel from FUT Minna who paid him a visit in Katsina on Wednesday.
He listed the programmes as B.Sc. Technical Education, B.Sc. Biology, B.Sc. Mathematics and B.Sc. Chemistry.
He said the visit of the panel was sequel the polytechnic’s request for affiliation with the institution, adding “the university’s team is to assess preparations on ground for the commencement of programmes.”
The rector said the programmes would boost the academic excellence for which the polytechnic stood.
Earlier, the leader of the panel, Mr. Emmanuel Odesi, said the team was at the institution to assess the facilities on ground for the commencement of the programmes.
“We will go round and asses the facilities on ground and forward our report to the management of the university for a final decision,” he said.
Odesi said that the team would also pay another visit when the two institutions would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the running of the programmes.
The polytechnic was established 40 years ago by the administration of Gov. Alhaji Balarabe Musa of the then Kaduna State.
