The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to renovate Sani Abacha Stadium and Kano Pillars Stadium, Sabon Gari.
The call followed a motion moved by the Chairman House Committee on Sports, Nurudeen Alhassan, (APC-Rano) at plenary on Wednesday in Kano.
Alhassan appealed to members of the Assembly to call on government to renovate the Stadia, which, he said, would pave way for Sports development and serve as sources of revenue for the state government.
The motion was seconded by Alhaji Abubakar Kademi, (APC-Gaya).
In his contribution, Alhaji Kabiru Dashi, (APC- Kiru), noted that Kano Pillars played all their games in Kaduna last season due to Coronavirus isolation centre facility built in the stadium.
According to him, the League Management Company (LMC) also sanctioned Sabon Gari stadium in Kano due to lack of facilities.
Dashi noted that renovation of the stadia would reduce stress of the players from travelling to other places to play their matches and also motivate them to focus and win their home games.
The Speaker of the house, Alhaji Hamisu Chidari (APC-Makoda), also called on the state government to renovate the stadia before the start of the league. (NAN)
