Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti and his Osun counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola have received commendation from a former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu.
Kalu, was particularly impressed by the lofty projects being carried out by the two south west governors.
The former governor who recently toured the south west zone therefore, opined that the two governors should be given the oportuniy to carry on with their good works.
He spoke to newsmen at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on his way to the United Arab Emirates.
“To be honest with you exceptionally these governors have done very well like Ekiti and Osun and I said it openly.
“I don’t fear anybody to say it and that is the truth, that is the fact on the table and some of the governors have not done well also, so if you see anyone that have done well you praise him, they took me to projects.
“I am working for the unity of the country, the unity of the country means more than anything to me.
“I want people to see us whether you are APC, PDP or CPC anything you are, I want people to say first I can go to Fayemi have breakfast, have lunch, have dinner because our politicians are making individuals to be enemies which is not right.
“We are not enemies, we are owners of this country, we are part and parcel of the country, we should be friends.
“Our leaders at all levels are showing even the masses on how to be enemies to somebody, they have enemies, they tell you this man is my enemy, nobody is my enemy, we might disagree politically does not mean that you are my enemy, so this is what I am showing them, I am going to preach to governors to be friendly with one another”.
On the recent defection of some loyalists of former President Olusegun Obasanjo , in Ogun State, from the PDP the APC, Kalu said there was nothing wrong with that, describing it as a matter of choice and civil right.
According to him, “It is a healthy thing, anybody can go anywhere he wants to be, decamping from one party for another is a matter of choice. So, if some loyalists of Obasanjo move from PDP to APC, there is nothing wrong in that.
“Party is like church, I am a Catholic, my late father was a Presbyterian, my mother is a Presbyterian and as you can see, you can go to any church that you like, you can go to any party that you like.
“It is their civil right, nobody should blame them and it is healthy to have alternative, I have always said this without any fear of anybody, it is healthy.
‘ I don’t want to see one party holding the country to ransom, I don’t want to see two parties holding the country to ransom, two party is healthy for the country and they are doing the right thing, if they are dissatisfied with their former party , they can move .”
