Expectedly, the incumbent Governor of Edo state Godwin Obaseki has formally joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after his disqualification from seeking re-election under the All Progressive Congress (APC).
He made the formal declaration on Friday in Benin City where he obtained his membership card which he displayed to the applause from his supporters.
Prompt News reports that governor Obaseki had visited some PDP governors ahead of his declaration for the party.
Earlier in the week, the governor visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to inform him of his resignation from the ruling party.
