The resignation of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore was on Monday confirmed by the National Working Committee.
Their resignation was announced on Monday during the NWC meeting chaired by Senator Abubakar Kyari, PUNCH reports.
Kyari also revealed that he has taken over as Acting Chairman while Deputy National Secretary, Barrister Festus Fuanter takes over as Acting Secretary.
The new leadership also announced the postponement of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings that was earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday and Wednesday.
PROMPT NEWS reports that Omisore’s lawyer, Kayode Ajulo, had earlier in the day faulted the news making the round that his client had resigned.
“Why must he resign, he is the National Sectetary of the winning party that has just ushered in the new government of President Bola Tinubu.
“He he is proud of what the president is doing and the party enjoys the confidence of the president vice versa
“What he is doing now is to stabilise the political space and ensure that those who worked for the emergence of President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian people are happy with the government,” Ajulo said.
