Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has announced a three-day mourning period in memory of the late Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi.
The mourning, which includes prayers, will run from Sunday, January 5, to Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
During a condolence visit to Oluwatuyi’s family in Akure on Sunday, Governor Aiyedatiwa reflected on the remarkable life of service led by the late SSG. He noted that Oluwatuyi’s contributions to the state’s development were significant and would not be forgotten.
“Hon. Oluwatuyi was a key figure in the political and administrative history of Ondo State. His legacy is one of dedication and service, and he made a lasting impact on the lives of many,” the Governor said.
The late Oluwatuyi, who was affectionately called “Tuykana,” passed away on Saturday while receiving medical treatment following a road accident.
Accompanied by members of the State Executive Council, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his heartfelt condolences to Oluwatuyi’s wife and family. The Governor also connected with the deceased’s children, who reside abroad, through a video call to convey his sympathies.
Aiyedatiwa described Oluwatuyi as a humble and principled individual who carried out his duties with excellence and integrity.
In his tribute, the Governor wrote: “Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, your life was a testimony of service and impact. Though your departure came unexpectedly, we trust in God’s timing. May you rest peacefully in His presence.”
The Governor assured the family of the state government’s full support during this difficult time and prayed for divine strength for the bereaved.
Special prayers were also held for the family, the Akure community, and the state, led by Pastor Ayoade Babalola, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Infrastructure.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged residents of Ondo State to observe the three-day mourning period, which will also feature prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Oluwatuyi and comfort for his family.
