The Social and Welfare Officer of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, Jummai Abdullahi on Saturday emerged the overall winner of the 20th IBB Ladies Golf Close Championship.
Jummai grossed 185 in two days with the nett of 147 to outshine over 70 participants who all poised to lift the trophy
Receiving the trophy in the presence of many dignitaries which include the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dame Paullen Tallen, Senator Esther Audu, Captain of the Club, Sola Awoyungbo, Lady Captain, Nanfe Audu as well as a Member of the Board of Trustees, Prince Lufadeju, the winner, Jummai Abdullahi attributed her success to many days of practising, hardwork and self confidence.
The handicap 18 amateur golfer promised to work more harder to overcome any serious challenge during the forthcoming Ladies Open Championship. Other winners of the Close championship include former Lady Captain, Grace Ihonvbere who won Best Gross with 175 score.
She also received prize for the nearest to the Pin in hole 8 having shot 4.8metres as well as Longest drive award in hole 7 with 187metres.
Adebimpe Usman’s shot of 150 score was adjudged as the Best Nett while another former Lady Captain, Faridah Wada went home with Runner up Nett with 176 score.
Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Paullen Fallen who was the Special Guest of Honour congratulated the Ladies Section of the Club for a well organized event, urging the winners and those who did not win any prize to see it as a game and not an avenue for blackmail.
She promised to play active role in whatever programmes the Section undertake.In her remarks, Nanfe Audi, who is the Lady Captain said the success of the championship can be attributed to the support from all the Ladies.
She enjoined them to be more dedicated to all activities of the Club. The 2019 IBB Ladies Golf Close Championship had over 70 women and more than 100 men in attendance.
