Jumia Nigeria, an e-commerce platform on Tuesday announced the launch of a new integrated warehouse and logistics network facility to boost efficiency and delivery experience.
Mr Sunil Natraj, the Chief Executive Officer of Jumia Nigeria, said this during the launch of the new Jumia warehouse on Tuesday in Lagos.
He said the integrated warehouse spanned 30,000 square meters, with over 17,000 square meters of covered storage in Isolo.
Natraj said this strategic development signified a major step forward in Jumia Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing its logistics capabilities and providing customers with an amazing shopping experience.
According to him, the new facility boasts of a significantly larger storage capacity compared to Jumia’s previous, fragmented warehouses.
Natraj said this would be a significant scale-up of operations, ensuring Jumia could efficiently manage future growth and meet the ever-increasing demands of the Nigerian e-commerce market.
“The launch of our integrated warehouse marks a key moment for Jumia Nigeria.
“By consolidating our operations under one roof, we are not only streamlining our fulfillment processes but also laying the groundwork for significant improvements in efficiency, scalability, and cost reduction.
“This will allow us to offer a wider product variety and most importantly, deliver them to our consumers faster than ever before,” Natraj said.
Speaking at the grand opening, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, said that Jumia’s journey in Nigeria had been nothing short of extraordinary.
Sanwo-Olu was represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs Folashade Ambrose-Medebem.
He said Jumia had grown into one of the leading e-commerce companies, revolutionising the way we shop and do business.
He noted that the new warehouse with its cutting-edge technology and vast capacity would significantly enhance Jumia’s ability to serve its customers efficiently.
“Meeting the ever-growing demands of the e-commerce sector, it is a bold economic step forward in ensuring that goods can be delivered faster, more reliably and at a lower cost.
“We are proud to support initiatives such as these that drive economic growth and provide employment opportunities for our people.
“This warehouse will create numerous jobs and provide skill development opportunities, further strengthening our local workforce,” the governor said.
He added that the integrated warehouse opening was remarkable as it eliminated the need for first-mile transportation between multiple warehouses and sorting centers.
Sanwo-Olu noted that this resulted in a significant reduction in carbon emissions thereby demonstrating Jumia’s commitment to sustainability.
Also, Richmond Otu, Chief Supply Chain Officer of Jumia Nigeria, said the company would provide a dedicated supply chain team with a modern and improved working environment.
According to him, the new facility’s central location in Isolo offered convenient access for staff, and streamlined logistics processes.

Otu added that the integration of various services would empower them to optimise fulfillment and reduce environmental impact through minimised transportation requirements.
