Plans have been concluded for the flagging off of about 10,000 Units of various types of houses under the Nationwide Workers’ Housing Scheme in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.
The FCT Minister, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed who made this disclosure on Monday alongside his colleagues, the supervising Minister of Labour & Productivity, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs. Akon Etim Eyakenyi, said that this is a Federal Government Scheme in collaboration with the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and to be developed by Good Homes Development Company Limited.
The Ministers explained that this project is part of the Federal Government’s commitment to providing affordable housing to Nigerian workers under the Transformation Agenda of the present Administration.
They reiterated that the FCT Administration, Federal Ministry of Labour & Productivity, and Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing & Urban Development have been mandated to fashion out how the flagging-off would be successfully organized at Apo Tafyi District, after the Apo Mechanic Village on Wednesday, 17th December 2014 at 12 noon.
According to the three Ministers the scheme is designed for all the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory to reduce the housing deficit in the country and most importantly provide affordable homes to Nigerian workers.
Speaking further, Mohammed revealed that the FCT Administration had provided land for the Scheme and that the developer would build various types of houses including 5 Bedroom Duplex; 4 Bedroom Duplex; 3 Bedroom Terrace Duplex; 3 Bedroom Block of flats and 2 Bedroom Block of flats.
