By Gracious Akujobi Super Eagles will depart the shores of the country Thursday night for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirate (UAE) ahead of the intentional friendlies with Ivory Coast and Sudan.
Super Eagles Media Officer, Ben Alaiya told Prompt News that the team is expected to fly direct to UAE from Abuja on board Emirate Airline, adding that the Eagles will play Ivory Coast on January 11, while it will confront Sudan on January 17.
“The NFF is in charge of administration and logistics and they are preparing the team well. They have made necessary travelling arrangements for the team.
“Technically, the coaching crew is there and they know the players that are fit to go to Abu Dhabi,” Alaiya said.
He urged Nigerians not to expect too much from the team, noting that the friendly encounters were arranged to enable the technical crew discover fresh legs for the senior national team.
“We are playing a team that is going to the Nations Cup and another team that did not qualify for the competition.
“So, it’s a gradual rebuilding process to bring back the good memories of the Super Eagles and I think the coaches are on track,” he added.
Nineteen players are expected to make the trip to Abu Dhabi from the 24 players in camp.
