The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has called on members of the public to always avail them with useful and timely information that would lead to the arrest of suspected criminals.
Commandant of NSCDC in Cross River, Mr Samuel Fadeyi, made the call on Tuesday in Calabar during the 2022 International Civil Defence Day celebration in Calabar.
Fadeyi said that the Corps was open to collaboration with relevant stakeholders and members of various communities in the state with a view to synergise and respond to cases of emergency on time.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the celebration is “Civil Defence and Management of Displayed Population in the Face of Disasters and Crises, Role of Volunteers and the Fight Against the Pandemic”.
The State Commandant said that following the theme of the 2022 celebration, the Corps was creating awareness and sensitising members of the public about their security and health.
“In order for us to sensitise the general public effectively and to respond to their security concerns, we need timely and useful information to help us act accordingly,” he said.
He explained that the International Civil Defence Day was set aside to recognise the activities of the Corps all over the world.
“NSCDC is an affiliate of International Civil Defence Organisation and that is why we are joining the rest of the world to celebrate this day, especially as it concerns crises management, prevention and control.
“We have gone on a road show to celebrate the day; as part of the activities also, we intend to go to the orphanage to visit them and make some donations.
“We are calling on members of the public to always see us as partners because we are ready at all times to collaborate with them for the growth of the state,” he added. (NAN)
