Apparently to key into the patriotic
call by Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari for all hands to be on deck in the fight against insecurity in the country, the Presidential Think-Tank on Defence and Security will on December 6 organise a summit involving security stakeholders to chat a pathway to deal with the issue.
This is even as the leadership of the
Presidential Think-Tank on Defence and Security under the auspices of the Honourable Minister of Defence in collaboration with Ashcraft Center for Social Science Research at a Press Conference held on Thursday at Petrus Hotel Royale in Garki, Abuja, stated that the summit could not have come at a better time than now in the face of the festering security challenges in Nigeria.
Speaking at the media event, the
Chairman of the Presidential Think-Tank on Defence and Security, Major General Abdul Malik Jibril, who was flanked by his Executive Members, said the planned summit “is in response to the call-to-arms of President Muhammadu Buhari to the Armed Forces, Intelligence and Security establishments, business owners as well as to all residents of Nigeria to work in concerts to “reduce the vulnerability of the Nation’s Critical National Infrastructure to threats and hazards, on the one hand, and improving the resilience of such critical national infrastructure by strengthening their ability to withstand and recover from disruption”.
Throwing more light at the unveiling of the forthcoming national summit with the theme: “Protecting Nigeria’s Critical Infrastructural, Monuments and Business Assets” scheduled to hold at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja from December 6 to 7, 2021, said the group has selected a crack team to deliver papers on the days of the summit.
Among those expected to deliver papers on topical issues under review are Professor Niran Oluwaranti of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife; Major General Emeka Onumajuru, Deputy Commandant, National Defence College, Abuja and Major General U.A. Tar, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.
