In keeping with the law governing elections in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has handed a Certificate of Return to Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki two days after he emerged winner of the Edo State Governorship Election.
The Certificate of Return for Governor of a State dated September 21 and signed by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has been handed over to the Edo state incumbent governor.
Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday, September 19, 2020 defeated his closest rival and candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in a keenly contested Edo guber election.
The PDP flagbearer garnered a total of 307, 955 to beat APC candidate, Ize- Iyamu who pulled 223, 619 votes to finish second in the election.
