Oil magnate Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Enugu state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday night in Enugu declared Mbah winner after he scored the highest numbers of votes and meeting all other requirements to win the fiercely contested election.
Making the Declaration, Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, Vice Chancellor, Michael Okpara Federal University of Agriculture Umudike who is the Returning Officer, said the PDP candidate scored a total of 160, 895 votes to beat his closest rival and Labour Party flagbearer, Chijioke Edoga who polled 157, 552 votes while the former Minister Frank Nweke Jnr. of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) garnered 17, 983 votes.
With the Declaration of Abia and Enugu states guber results, the South East geopolitical zone has now been governed by four political parties: Labour Party, APC, APGA and PDP respectively.
