The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, winner of the Osun State Governorship Election held on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
Adeleke defeated other candidates including the incumbent Governor Adegboyega Isiaka Oyeyola of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
He polled 403,371 votes to send Governor Oyetola who polled 375,027 votes packing from the Government House.
Declaring the PDP candidate Governot-Elect, the Returning Officer of the election, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, said:
“I declare that Adeleke Ademola Jackson Nurudeen of PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and he is returned elected.”
Kehinde Atanda of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) came third with 10,104 votes.
A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, could only managed to poll 2,729 votes.
