A patient dog eats the fattest bone, this proverb is true of the former Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, Super Falcons Head Coach, Thomas Dennerby as All India Football Federation (AIFF) has appointed the Swede as the new gaffer of its senior women’s football team.
Dennerby, until the new appointment was the Head Coach of the Indian national women’s U-17 side from 2019 after he left his former position as the Super Falcons Head Coach, immediately after the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup final in France.
The new appointment will now see Dennerby taking charge of the Indian women’s national team in the forthcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Championship slated to take place from January 20 to February 6, 2022 which India is the host.
The former Policeman and experienced soccer tactician may have bagged the Indian women’s national team’s top job due to his coaching pedigree after he had also handled the senior women’s national team of Sweden.
Dennerby took his home-country (Sweden) to the semi-final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in time past just as he won the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) with the Super Falcons of Nigeria in Ghana.
He also led Nigeria to the 2nd Round of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup final before he surprisingly worked out of the lucrative Nigerian job to take up the role of coach of India’s U-17 women’s football team.
To show his love for his place of work, Nigeria, Dennerby appointed ex-Nigerian star, Precious Dede as Goalkeeper Trainer and the duo have stepped up to manage the senior women’s football team of Indian.
