The former Director of Civil Society Organizations and a member of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajia Naja’atu Bala Muhammad has denied joining the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after resigning from the ruling party.
This is even as she has also debunked the claims by the APC PCC that she was sacked for gross incompetence and being a mole in its fold, insisting that she resigned on her own conviction that her former party is not going on the part of redeeming Nigeria and Nigerians from the present economic and security challenges.
Speaking on AIT breakfast programme Kakaaki on Wednesday, Bala-Muhammad said she quit her job and the party to satisfy her conscience because she cannot in good conscience continue to be in her post why things are not going well in Nigeria.
According to her, the APC and its presidential candidate will not rescue Nigeria from the present situation, pointing out that she was persuaded to accept the PCC job and when she found out that she is no longer enjoying the development in the party she has to quit.
Bala- Muhammad who was the 1st Woman Student Union President of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria during her school days revealed that she was against the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket, saying that it is wrong in Islam which preaches against injustice and marginalization.
She told Nigerians from North to South, East and West not to fall for the hypocrisy of religion by the political class who use religion to divide the country to get political positions.
The activist cum politician said she will continue to fight for equity, justice and fairness not matter the obstacles along the way just as she criticised the Nigerian youths for being docile in the face of tyranny.
She however, blamed the situation on lack of education, stating that most Nigerian youths are illiterate and lacked education especially in the rural areas hence they have not been able to fight for their rights.
Asked if she is now a member of PDP, Bala-Muhammad said categorically that she is not a member of any political party because they have all filled their positions for the 2023 general election hence she will prefer to be on the part of the society to fight bad governance.
Although she said she will go all out to support the only woman gubernatorial aspirant in Adamawa state Hajia Aisha Binani to win the Adamawa governorship election in March.
The APC, in a statement signed by one of the spokespersons for its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Mahmud Jega, said it received with amusement Naja’atu Mohammed’s hasty “resignation” from her position as Director of Civil Society Organizations “just before she was sacked for incompetence, quarrelsomeness and after being uncovered to be a mole planted in our winning campaign in order to leak sensitive information to our desperate opponents”.
