The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has attributed the low power supply in Kano to increasing cases of illegal connections and vandalism.
This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of KEDCO, Ibrahim Sani-Shawai on Friday in Kano.
According to the statement, “these have contributed to the low supply being experienced in some residential locations in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states.
“The acts aside being some of the reasons for low supply, have resulted to fire outbreaks, electrocution as well as power outage in communities where it is carried out,” he said.
The Managing Director, Dr Jamil Isyaku-Gwamna, urged customers to take their responsibility of protecting KEDCO’s installations, to effectively serve them better and guarantee satisfaction.
“The economic implication of these acts of vandalism, illegal connections, power theft and others is unimaginable,” Isyaku-Gwamna stated.
He commended communities who had been reporting illegal activities in their domains, while urging others to take a cue from them.(NAN)
