The newly appointed Federal Commissioner representing Imo state in the Revenue, Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) Chief Peter Enyinna Opara has assured that he will use his new appointment to work for the Imo people.
This is even as he is urging the people of Imo state to support the administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma, saying that Imolites have to work together to change the negative narrative about the once most peaceful state in the entire South East.
Opara who spoke to Prompt News on Wednesday shortly after he was sworn-in as a RMAFC Commissioner alongside six others by President Muhammadu Buhari at a brief ceremony before the commencement of the Valedictory Federal Executive Council (FEC)
at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, promised to be a good ambassador of Imo state.
Said he: “this assignment is not for my personal benefit but a call to duty, an opportunity to work for country and service to my state, Imo. As a representative of the state it is my duty to ensure that the state gets what is due to it as par the federal revenue meant for the state”.
Speaking further, Opara made it clear that his appointment is on none partisan basis hence he is going to work in concert with Governor Uzodinma to ensure that what accrues to the state from the federal purse is delivered to the state to be used to develop Imo.
According to him: “I am favourable disposed to join hands with Governor Uzodinma to make Imo state the envy of neighbouring states by ensuring that the federal allocations meant for the state gets to the government for the development of our state”.
The RMAFC Commissioner therefore call on Imolites to rally round the incumbent governor to put back state on the part of progress, arguing that the governor is not doing too bad.
“Governor Uzodinma is not doing too bad despite the challenges he faced in the state. My appeal to Imolites is to let us join hands with him to continue to deliver the dividends of democracy”, Opara concluded.
The RMAFC new Commissioners who were sworn-in by President Buhari were Senator Ayogu Ezeh (Enugu State), Hajia Hawa Aliyu (Jigawa State), and Hajia Rekiya Haruna (Kebbi State).
Others were Ismaila Agaka (Kwara State), Kolawole Abimbola (Oyo State) and Ayuba Ngako (Federal Capital Territory).
