The Idumeko community in Ekpon, Igueben local government area of Edo state will be agog this yuletide as the maiden edition of its football competition tagged Idumeko Unity Cup 2022 kicks off on December 23, 2022.
Sponsor of the 10-day tournament, Sir Festus Egbeyon told Vanguard Sports that all the four quarters of Idumeko community and two other teams will vie for the coveted trophy and cash prizes at stake.
The participating teams are Idumu-Ozigwe, Idumu-Iyase, Idumu-Iseogheghe, Idumu-Odin, Engr. Osaro Odiase and Barr. Kukei Umoye selected sides.
The competition which holds at the Eko Primary School compound in Ekpon will run through Friday, December 23, 2022 to Sunday, January 1, 2023.
According to Egbeyon, “Football tournament is another way of uniting people and communities globally”, adding, “this competition is aimed at bringing our people together, using team work with good spirit of oneness to achieve more as a community and to leave a good foundation for the next generation.” – VANGUARD SPORTS
