Nigeria’s Junior Yellow Greens at the weekend recorded a resounding victory against Rwanda as the ICC U19 World Cup qualifier gets underway in South Africa.
The Junior Yellow Greens won the Toss and elected to bat.
Opening Pair for Nigeria’s Olaleye Elijah and Runsewe Sulaiman gradually and efficiently put up a partnership of 140 runs the loss of no wicket.
Elijah Olaleye Scored 54 runs to record his second consecutive half century in the tournament. Captain Okpe Sylvester also scored an impressive half century Not Out after overcoming a little scare when Nigeria lost 3 quick wickets.
The Star Performer in the Bating efforts for the JUNIOR YELLOW GREENS was Runsewe Sulaiman who scored 102 runs Not Out playing out the entire 50 overs, making him the only batsman to record a century in the tournament so far and the leading runs scorer in the tournament.
Nigeria eventually scored a total of 278 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 50 overs.
In the second innings, the opening bowling pair for Nigeria Akachukwu Chima and Olurunbi Simisola ran through the Rwanda Bating Line up with Olurumbi Simisola taking 6 wickets and Akachukwu Chima 4 wickets in just 13.5 overs.
Rwanda could only manage 33 runs all out in 13.5 overs. Nigeria won the match by 245 runs.
Runsewe Sulaiman lead the tournament score with 138 runs after 2 matches followed by Olaleye Elijah with 122 runs from 2 matches Akachukwu Chima leads the bowling Chart with 9 wickets from 2 games and Simisola in 3rd place with 7 wickets from 2 games.
Nigeria is up against West African rivals, Sierra Leone on Monday.
